Bethel United Methodist Church Warrenton, Va Part Time , On-Site Direct Supervisor: Nursery Coordinator and Pastor Approved Compensation: Average of 3 hours per week @ $25/hour "Living our faith, sharing God's Love" is our mission statement. Purpose: To provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to children, ages 0-5 years, in a clean and safe environment. Schedule : Childcare hours include every Sunday between the hours of 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM during the regular program year. Hours may vary during the summer, special services/events, and holidays. Dependability is essential. Tardiness and excessive absences negatively impact the program and may result in termination. Any planned absences should have a two-week written notice submitted directly to the Nursery Coordinator. If the absence is unexpected, the Church Nursery Worker must notify the Nursery Coordinator immediately. A list of nursery volunteers will be maintained for substitutes. Requirements: At least 18 years of age Satisfactory completion of VDSS-CPS background check Satisfactory completion of First Aid and CPR training for infants and children Satisfactory completion of Safe Sanctuaries training Three references Essential Functions: Greets each child and calls him/her by name when dropped off by parent(s)/guardians. Polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers Completes Nursery Registration Records and communicates special needs to volunteers and Nursery Coordinators. Arrives on time to the nursery at least 15 minutes prior to the service for which they are scheduled. Stays until all children are secured with a responsible adult named on the child’s registration form. Responsible for age-appropriate care which includes feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, books, stories, and play. Engages children in organized activities while staying in nursery, i.e. age appropriate songs, stories, lessons, crafts, etc. Maintains good handwashing/hand hygiene after diaper changes and after assisting children with tissues for coughs, sneezes, or runny noses Wears gloves while changing diapers and disinfects diaper changing area after each diaper change Straightens the room and cleans/sanitizes any toys/beds that were used that Sunday after children have left Abides by all Safe Sanctuary policies of the local United Methodist Church at all times Participates in an evaluation after a 90-day probationary period and thereafter annually. After this probationary period either party may terminate employment without cause. Beyond this, a two-week written notice is required Ensures safety of the nursery environment, i.e. cleaning products and medications stored out of reach of children, outlet covers on electrical outlets, etc Other duties as assigned as nursery needs, position, and processes evolve Qualifications Strong Christian values, grounded in the faith with knowledge and/or a desire to learn more of the scriptures and Methodism Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0 to 5 with the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities.
